In an article in Nice-Matin on January 12, we learned that the American giant AIRBNB was going to pay nearly 4 millions euros to the cities of the Alpes Maritimes for the tourist tax, including more than 1.84 million euros for the City of Nice itself..

In total, it is the sum of 58 millions euros that the platform will pay to the different cities in France. Of this amount, more than 10 million euros for the PACA region.

Naturrally, Nice occupies the first place of the classification in the department with 1.84 million euros collected.

This figure shows once again the essential role of the American giant in the economy of the region.

Nice is indeed the third city in France which collected the most tourist tax in 2019 behind Marseille (2.35M €) and Paris (15.34M €) *.

Note also the fifth place at the national level in Cannes with € 910,000 donated.

According to AFP, the exponential rise of these sums collected on rentals between individuals is due to the automation of the collection of the tourist tax.
